This is dedicated to all breastfeeding moms. I breastfed all my babies in public 29 years ago. Women should not be forced or shamed in to a dirty bathroom to feed their babies. When baby is hungry, feed your baby. Don't let someone else make you feel it is wrong. The divine plan for human nature set it to breastfeed your baby. Shame on the people who take what is natural and turn it in to something else.

SC - Single Crochet
DC - Double Crochet
HDC - Half Double Crochet
CH - Chain
SL ST - Slip Stitch
Materials
Size H/5 mm crochet hook
4 ply yarn - 2 colors
Tapestry Needle
With Color A
Chain 2 -
Round 1: Work 6 single crochet through the first chain - 6 single crochet total. Do not join. Work in continual round. You may want a yarn marker to show the first stitch.
Round 2-4: Work 1 single crochet through each stitch around. (6 single crochet total)
Round 5: Increase round. Work 2 single crochet through each stitch around. (12 single crochet total)
Round 6: Work 1 single crochet through each stitch around. (12 single crochet total)
Round 7: Work 2 single crochet through each stitch around. (24 single crochet total)
Round 8: Work 1 single crochet through each stitch around. (24 single crochet total) Upon completion, work a slip stitch in the next stitch to even off the round, cut the yarn and pull through the loop to secure.
Round 9: Attach color B. Work 1 single crochet through the next stitch, work 2 single crochet through the next stitch. (36 single crochet total)
Continue with the continual round.
Round 10-11: Work 1 single crochet through each stitch around. (36 single crochet total)
Round 12: Work 1 single crochet in each of the next 2 stitches. Work 2 single crochet through the next stitch. (48 single crochet total)
Round 13-25: Work 1 single crochet through each stitch around. (48 single crochet total) Upon completion, work a slip stitch in the next stitch to even off the round. Cut the yarn, pull through to secure. Sew in all the tails.

Medium Cap - Size Estimate 16-20 inches
Round 13: Work 1 SC in each stitch around. (48 single crochet total)
Round 14: *1 SC in each of the next 3 stitches, 2 SC in the next stitch. continue around from * (48 single crochet total)
Continue for length approximately 26-29 rounds.

this is really cute! i breastfed my two older children and still breastfeed my youngest! no shame in feeding in public.. my babies are human and not cows; why would i have them drink any other milk? :)

ReplyDeleteI believe it it absolutely shameful for a WOMAN in any store to tell another woman to go into a secluded area to breastfeed their baby. When an adult is hungry, they seem to find a place to eat, and it's either outside at a table, or through the street with food dangling from their hands and mouth. How gross is that.

ReplyDeleteHow do I make one for 12-18 month old. Do I need to increase the rows for the length or do I increase the number of stitches per row as well?
ReplyDeleteI fed all five of my kids. Two of them were 21 and 22 months when they quit, and I still fed them in public as toddlers. I didn't care what others thought--some toddlers' sole liquid nutrition is from their mother's milk and this was the case with my kids. When they needed a drink, they were polite about it and either used the sign for milk or asked verbally for milk. I never had an issue with them pulling up my shirt, either.
ReplyDeleteI was even complimented at one point while I was walking in the mall with my youngest. She was feeding as we walked and someone who had "been there, done that" complimented me for my willingness to feed whenever baby was hungry! (No one else knew what was going on, though.)
These are wonderful and I cannot wait to have the ability to do one for my bonus daughter. All four of my children were breastfed. My bonus daughter was not, but she is a breastfeeding mom and I am so happy for her and my little grandsons. Your shout out to breastfeeding moms is tremendously appreciated, of course, any breastfeeding mom would understand. God bless you for sharing your talent and knowledge with us.
